However, regardless of its file type it either includes transparency or a path which may be used as mask in Affinity. If the latter is the case you can try to edit the placed image inside APub and edit its mask layer and thereby its ‘background’ color.
If it is a pixel image only but with transparency then there is no option in APub to replace the transparent pixels with a color. Note that APub has no pixel edit tools at all. To achieve a black background for this transparent image you could place it on top of a layer which contains a black object, e. Also a Picture Frame with a black fill color will work, this object may contain the image, too, and cause easier handling this way.
Thank you! I didn’t quite figure it out in Publisher, but I was able to open up Paint 3D and I swear even though I previously tried it, this time I was able to black fill in the transparent background. So then I just dragged that new saved image into the look book I’m creating in Publisher. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account.

Once the texture is imported onto the document, you can apply it to an object as a fill by creating a clipping mask. To do so, open the Layers tab and click and drag the texture layer on top of the subject layer. When done correctly, the texture image should be placed inside of the object:. As previously mentioned, whenever you apply a texture fill in Affinity Designer using the Stock tab, the image will be really large once imported.
In this step we will be adjusting the texture fill to accommodate the subject it is applied to. Grab the Move Tool keyboard shortcut: V and use the transformation handles to adjust your texture fill as needed:. If the transformations are being made to the entire subject and not just the texture fill, you may need to expand the object layer in the Layers tab so you can select the texture fill layer. Posted July 13, Hi, New user on testing Affinity on windows 10 Okay I’m testing out the flood fill tool on an imported pdf. You can add a fill to the stroke only, the fill only, or both and these icons will allow you to choose which one you adjust. There is one addition with the Fill Tool and that is Bitmap.
This allows you to fill an object with a bitmap image such as texture, or a pattern, and can be adjusted using the two handles that appear when you add a bitmap fill. When you select Bitmap, it will immediately take you to your folders so you can find and place an image.
Just a note, you can only pull an image from your files both in the Cloud and on your machine however you cannot add a bitmap fill using the Stock Studio or an image in a separate layer. With a Bitmap fill, you will be given two handles and three stopping points with no gamma sliders.
If you drag the handles out, the bitmap image will become larger and, drag inwards, it will become smaller. When using the non-Bitmap types, you can select the colors in your fills by tapping on the stops at the ends of the handles and choosing your color in the Color Studio.
You can also adjust the noise and opacity levels using the sliders under the Color Wheel. However, pattern fills work slightly different in Affinity Designer than they do in alternative applications, like Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator. In a tutorial I recently made for my YouTube channel, I demonstrated how to create a vector pattern with Affinity Designer:.
The pattern depicts colored cubes stacked neatly against each other. It is created by first making a single tile, exporting it as a PNG image, and then using it as a pattern fill with Affinity Designer. The tile is designed in such a way that you can place copies of it next to each other to create a seamless, symmetrical pattern that can be repeated infinitely.
Just right-click the image and select Save As. For this demonstration I will be using a basic circular shape. To apply a pattern fill with Affinity Designer, grab the Fill Tool keyboard shortcut: G and look towards the top of the screen for the tool settings. Locate your pattern on your hard drive and click OK to import it.
